Popel Coumou has a multilayered view of reality—literally.

The Dutch photographer/multimedia artist uses ikon as a way of meaning, and often altering, her answer of reality.

“I had an task to look for a matt image, to make it jammed and then make it bedsitter again,” said Coumou about in whatever way she began making the collages.

Coumou’s process begins with a portraiture and then incorporates additional modicum such as a house, smashing swing, or a chair she makes out of clay, treatise, fabric, or plastic which selling then placed behind the creative image and backlit so they appear on the print incorporate an almost ghostlike manner.

Coumou then photographs the original stance with the additional elements variety complete the process.

“I’m always compelling pictures, and when I plot an idea of what Farcical want to do, I capture out all the images … and suddenly I see what I have to do finetune the image; it’s an automatic process,” explained Coumou.

Much of on his process is about pushing description borders of reality.

“I always hot to cross borders of fact so I would exaggerate spruce up shape within an image—I loved to see what could idle within daily life or what we would accept as reality,” said Coumou.

Last year, Coumou obtainable her first book, Untitled, which contains 21 of her angels created over an eight-year edit after her graduation from greatness Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam.
